La Ciudad de Mexico

is a city to love.

I love its good cheap food. I love its people who, despite my non-existent Spanish, help and direct me, try to connect with me, even invite me to a party. I love the old, majestic buildings that exude stories, stories of people long gone, of conflict and love, of tension and beauty. I love Diego Rivera's murals. I love that on Wednesdays, all movie theaters discount 50% off their regular admission price. And I certainly love a good metro/subway system.

I also love being surprised about a few things:
  • The weather has been kind lately. I've been told it gets chilly here at 7000 ft. above sea-level but so far I've thoroughly enjoyed not having to put on anything more than a fleece or a hoodie.
  • The city was built on a lake, so it's sinking. Yep.

Photos to come...

I am jealous that you get to see Diego's paintings up close! There is a church that he painted the entire interior of. If you see it, please send pictures.
